Should I (Must I?) Disclose to TMDSAS all the out of state schools I am applying to?
0 votes
I'm a great application with a slightly below average MCAT, so I am applying to a few lower tier med schools out of state (LSU, South Alabama, South Carolina, etc.).  I know Texas schools prefer Texas students, therefore, will they look poorly at my application because they see I am applying out of state? Also, will they think poorly of me for only applying to lower tier (lower mcat reqs) med schools? PLEASE HELP!

ALSO, is it possibly to not disclose what schools to apply to??

No they will not look poorly at your app if they see you are applying out of state. The only Texas school that commented on where I was applying out of state was UTSA (it was actually pretty scary since it was very first interivew!) and I ended up pre-matching there so clearly it was not too much of an issue. It is possible to not disclose what schools you are applying to, just do not enter them into your TMDSAS app. Most people are under the impression the out of state schools are not of too much concern to TMDSAS because once you submit that app it is not possible to add additional out of state schools you may be applying to.
